Employee Well-being and Diversity

Since its founding in 1987, Kobo Products Inc has been unwavering in its commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. As a global organization, we actively strive to create a workplace where every individual, regardless of their background, can thrive and contribute. Discrimination of any kind is unequivocally not tolerated at Kobo. We believe that by fostering an environment where everyone feels valued and included, we not only strengthen our team but also drive innovation and excellence. Our executive team, majority-led by accomplished women, exemplifies our dedication to fostering gender diversity on a worldwide stage.

Supporting our mission is a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion team that shares insight into company practices, provides opportunities for employees to engage with local communities, and expands international initiatives. To that end, we have an open-door policy where we actively listen to our employees’ suggestions and concerns. At Kobo, we also expect our suppliers to share in our values. Through continuous education, inclusive leadership, and initiatives that promote supplier diversity, we not only celebrate differences but actively work to break down barriers and provide a level playing field for all employees.

At Kobo, we encourage our employees around the globe to come together as important contributors to our shared mission of building a successful organization.

To demonstrate our commitment to equality initiatives, Kobo has joined the UN Global Impact (see Climate Change for more information). As part of our membership, we pledge to work toward gender equality at all levels of the company and to continuously support the empowerment of women and girls everywhere.

Community Engagement and Social Impact

We believe in giving back to the communities that support us. Through partnerships with local organizations, we support programs that promote education, vocational training, and healthcare. By investing in the communities where we operate, we aim to create a positive and lasting impact on people's lives.
Beyond our daily operations, we actively engage in philanthropy to address pressing social issues. By leveraging our resources and expertise, we aim to be a catalyst for positive change. Our employees participate in company-led volunteer opportunities, such as providing Thanksgiving meals to the homeless, serving holiday breakfast at elderly care facilities, speaking at local schools to promote S.T.E.M. initiatives, and contributing to the Children’s Hospital of Pennsylvania’s annual toy drive.
During early waves of Covid-19, Kobo organized Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) donation drives, providing over 150,000 masks and over 4,000 gallons of hand sanitizer (in addition to 10,000 1-ounce containers for staying safe on-the-go) to the following New Jersey counties: Bergen, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Essex, Gloucester, Hudson, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, Ocean, Passaic, Somerset, Sussex, Union, and Warren.
Kobo is also proud to offer a charitable matching program, where we double the impact of our employees’ donations to non-profits of their choosing. Over the past 20 years, Kobo’s match program has supported over 130 philanthropic endeavors, including: Kobo Charitable Donations List.
In addition to matching our employees' charitable gifts, Kobo is pleased to announce its corporate donations and sponsorships to the following organizations (since 2020):
Kobo also donated to Hidroelectrica La Confluencia S.A., a hydroelectric power plant in Chile, offsetting 537 tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
